Baby was an owner surrender. He was only 9 months old when he came to Sunrise! Baby lives in one of the barns in the pasture area. He's loves to eat and burrow in fresh straw. He can be a bit demanding and even nips at times. We always warn people just in case he's in his cranky old man mode.
Randy was found running along Interstate 70 near Springfield, Ohio. Some nice folks passing by decided to rescue him and bring him to live at Sunrise! When he first got here he lived in the house. After awhile he moved outside. He lived in the front yard for a while, then started going back and forth to the pasture. Eventually, Randy didn't want to come back up front anymore and became best friends with Chubb Chubb.
Chloe is another owner surrender. At her previous home she was being abused by another animal in the home.
Oscar was actually listed on Craigslist being sold for meat because his owners didn't like his rooting! Thank goodness he is safe now and will be forever at Sunrise! Root away Oscar we love you!
Oakley was another owner surrender. Luckily he's at his forever home now and we make sure he knows he's loved!
Beatrice Mary Beth, aka Ms. B
Beatrice was abandoned in a state park in Dayton. She was rescued by the Humane Society and brought to Sunrise! She now is one of the sweethearts of Sunrise. The only thing she gets upset about is not getting her food fast enough.
Wilbur is pretty new to Sunrise! A neighbor noticed he was being neglected and started feeding him scraps through the fence. The Humane Society got involved and removed him from the situation. He is now happy and eating good at Sunrise!
Ping was rescued by an 8-year old girl, it was her birthday wish to save a pig! Ping was saved from a hog farm here in Ohio, where her fate would have most definitely been slaughter. When Ping came to Sunrise last spring as a piglet, it was the first time she had ever been outside! At the hog farm she lived indoors, in cramped, confined quarters with other pigs, this is common practice in the meat industry. It didn't take Ping long to adjust to life here at Sunrise, we are just so thankful that she made it here safely and never has to worry again!
Chubb Chubb came to us through a family whose son took in the pot bellied pig who was unwanted by his previous owners. He and his family cared for Chubb Chubb until they could find her a safe home where they knew she would be cared for properly. She is now happy and safe at Sunrise!
Henry's last owners moved and left him in the basement. The new residents found him and cared enough to see that he was taken care of. They took him to OSU and eventually he came to his forever home at Sunrise!
