About Sunrise Sanctuary
We are a volunteer-led organization and would not exist without the dedication of all of our volunteers, corporate friends, donors, and supporters.
What We Do
We are a non-profit organization that provides a loving and permanent shelter for over 170 formerly abused, neglected, disabled, or unwanted farm and companion animals. At Sunrise, our animals are our family and their needs come first.
We currently provide a loving home to a variety of special beings, including pocket pets, companion animals, farm animals, and birds and fowl. We invite you to get to know our family through our website and by attending events at the farm!
Founder and Executive Director
Mindy is the original heart and soul of Sunrise Sanctuary. She started the sanctuary in 2001 to give animals a place to be accepted and loved.
Mindy gives every animal at Sunrise Sanctuary the kindness, love, and attention they all need and deserve!
Board of Directors
Meet the Team
Sunrise Sanctuary's Board of Directors is comprised of a team of volunteers that spend countless hours to provide a safe haven for our residents and ensure that their voices are heard.
Cammy plays many roles behind the scenes and has had such an integral role in the growth and success of Sunrise over the years. Cammy first visited Sunrise in 2010 and immediately fell in love, began volunteering, and has been a staple ever since. A long-time board member, she specializes in securing much-needed grants and funding, fundraising and event organizing. She also dedicates Sunday mornings to sanctuary cleaning and treat distribution and we and the animals couldn’t be more grateful.
Greg first arrived at Sunrise in 2012 on a volunteer cleaning day event, progressing into a regular volunteer and joining the board in 2015. Willing to take on most projects and assisting where needed, he’s been an invaluable asset, filling and enjoying numerous roles. From maintenance and projects to animal transports and rescues, merchandise and grounds improvement and more. His most significant and likely most challenging role was foster parent and spoiler of our baby Regan.
Sandy wears various hats, a so-called jack-of-all-trades and yet a master of so many. She acts as treasurer of the board, as well as our primary animal caregiver, daily operations manager, volunteer organizer and facilitator, legal expert, procurement manager, tour guide, and so much more. On top of her hours of daily farm work she also plans events, fundraises and works with sponsors and donors. Her greatest and most special role, we believe and we think she would agree, is best friend to all of our animals, who love her immensely.
Liz is our Board Secretary, social media manager, and is the Sunrise photographer. She specializes in event planning, marketing and she designs and implements Sunrise fundraisers. She also helps with rescues and transports when they arise. Liz gives us all a glimpse into the lives and personalities of our residents through her beautiful and iconic images, and the residents' trust in her is evident in each one. She is easily recognized at events documenting with her camera.
